About the Symposium

The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Family Health (Bureau) hosts the annual statewide Symposium on Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) in its work to equally protect and equitably promote the health and well-being of pregnant people, their partners, their children and all families in Pennsylvania. The Bureau offers the Symposium on CYSHCN to provide leadership, in partnership with stakeholders and families/caregivers, to create systemic changes at the local, regional and statewide level to improve health and health related outcomes for individuals and families.

What is the Symposium?

The Symposium is a free-of-cost, day-long, in-person event that focuses on providing support and education to improve systems of care, health outcomes, and quality of life for CYSHCN.  Registration is required

The 2024 Annual Symposium will focus on the national
Blueprint for Change and its four primary focus areas:   
access to care, health equity, financing of services, and quality of life for CYSHCN.

Who is the Symposium for?

The Symposium is for any Pennsylvania provider, agency or support staff who work with or provide services to CYSHCN and their families.

Why should I attend the Symposium?

The Symposium is an amazing opportunity to learn from leading experts and fellow providers about best practices and developments providing services for CYSHCN, as well as to engage and network with peers from across Pennsylvania.

The Annual Symposium also offers various continuing education credits (CEUs) based on the sessions available, at no cost to participants.

When will the Symposium be held?
This year’s one-day symposium will be held in person on
Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
